Directions to Circuit

Go past the Sports Centre to the rear of the car park. Walk past metal swing gate to right and through small car park to track.

Salt Ayre Sports Centre is conveniently situated half way between Lancaster and Morecambe and is easily accessible by car, public transport and bike.

  • Car - Follow the signs to Salt Ayre Sports Centre from the A683. Parking is free on site.
  • Bus - The number 6A bus from Lancaster and Morecambe stops at the ASDA supermarket. The centre is a 2 minute walk from the bus stop.
  • Train - Follow the cycle track from station to River Lune, cross by either the foot bridge next to the rail bridge or Millenium foot/cycle bridge and follow Greenway cycle path. Note that there are cut throughs to the track/car park before you reach the Sports Centre.
  • Bike - Follow the Greenway cycle path between Lancaster and Morecambe. There are cycle racks by the track and outside Sports Centre main entrance

    Safety Details

    Open but quiet track that is used to exercise dogs by owners who often ignore the signs to keep dogs on lead.

    Facilities

    Cafe, changing rooms and toilets in Sports Centre, 300m away. The Lancaster & Morecambe Athletic Club (LMAC) hut between the cycle circuit and running track is available for hire if required for larger events.

    Availability

    Track can be hired for group instruction, courses etc (see website). There is a cycle club that uses it Saturday mornings, plus other cycle events are held here. You do not appear to need to book it for individual use, however it may be a good idea to check with Sports Centre before setting off to check no event bookings.
