Lac D’Annercy

Location

 of Lac d-Annecy.

Website: www.campinglaravoire.com/en/region/15-lake-annecy-cycle-path

Route

Cycle path all the way round the lake (around 25 miles).  The west side of the lake has a complete cycle track which is smooth and used by cyclists, inliners and rollerskiers.

The East side uses a few roads in places (I think the intention is to create a cycle path all the way round at some point).  So on the east side you may have to walk the odd section, but on the plus side there is a super hill section of cycle way too.

Easy to do an out-and-back down the west side of the lake, starting at Annecy, where there is ample parking, but I'd advise an early start.

Variations

If the boats are running you can do a single trip and return by boat from the south end of the lake.  You can also extend the trip by heading south from the lake on a cycle track which will eventually take you to Ugine. (Only ever done this on a bike, but the surface is good).  You need to return the same way, at least until you reach the lake again, where you have bus and boat options to take you back to Annecy.
